In the Roadside America paintings, Bryce engages with both classical landscapes and notions of nature and environment, and utilizes an exquisite technical quality that asserts his distinct, highly individualized skill to convey color, light, and time through the medium of painting. At the same time, Bryce aims to create a relationship with the land that is intimate, yet instilled with America’s larger perception of space as both the means and object of discovery, encrypted in equal parts wonder and wanderlust.
