EFFIGY
Initially inspired by a wooden artist manikin as well as historical paintings and sculptures, Bryce has created a conceptual series of figurative works — some of which poke fun at aspects of American culture, while others explore social priorities and the human condition. Here, the artist uses elements typical of his work including the picture frame, textures, and other illusionistic elements seemingly attached or nailed to the painted surface. In his distinctive style, Bryce’s work maintains a narrative direction that fluctuates between critique and an avowed passion in the making of art.
